Italians at Retro

Story and Photos by Alessandro Gerelli
Scroll down for more photos.

VeloceToday sent Alessandro Gerelli to the Paris Retro to photograph the Italian cars on display. He returned with these wonderful images of the 2008 event.

A very nice Ferrari 500 of 1952/53.

The very rare Ferrari Dino 206 SP (chassis number 022) with the original 1969 212E Montagna body driven by Ravetto and Lo Piccolo

The Ferrari 330P chassis number 820 of 1964 driven by Vaccarella and Scarfiotti at the 1000km of Nurburgring.

The Ferrari 121LM chassis number 0558LM driven by Maglioli in 1955 (at the rear, the Ferrari 250GT of 1957 chassis number 0607GT).

A Maserati 250F of 1957.

The engine of a Cisitalia 202 Nuvolari Mille Miglia spider of 1948.

The steering wheel and the instruments of the Cisitalia.

A Lancia Lambda spider Mille Miglia of 1929 with a Zagato body.

This is a G230S prototype: a car based on the mechanics of the Fiat 2300S and a chassis designed by Gilco (Gilberto Colombo) with a body by Ghia. This car was shown at the Turin car show in 1963.

Alfa Romeo Sprint 6C of 1982: this is an Autodelta exercise based on the chassis of an Alfasud Sprint. Probably only two have been built.

Alfa Romeo Junior 2000Z of 1972: an Alfa Romeo R & D department exercise, with an Alfetta chassis and a rear central engine of 2 liters.

A small Abarth 1000 sport just nearby the nose of an old Maserati.

The small jewel of Autobianchi: the powerful A112 Abarth, sport version with a blue body (blue is the official racing color of France). I had a car like this but, of course, in red!

The Fiat 500, here in an Abarth version with a 695cc engine.

It looks like a toy but is not at all a toy: it is a scale version of the Maserati 250F (1:2 scale) built very carefully by GP Legend Cars, based in Rosario (Argentina). The car has a four stroke engine and limited speed. Also Lancia Ferrari D50 and Alfa Romeo 159 are available.

As usual the flea market is very rich: in this window we can fulfill any kind of requirement of spare parts.

For the first time this year there has been also a tour across Paris, from the Tour Eiffel to the Retromobile, of few interesting collection cars: here is a Fiat 850 spider in an American version.

This is the last version of the Fiat 850 coupè.

Using classic car like this Fiat 500 on a daily basis might be dangerous because the modern cars are higher and parking is risky; therefore using marine “fenders” are helpful.

Next week, the French side of Retro.
