Bonneville, Concorso, et al.

Much going on. We had the Monterey Ferrari Weekend (several reports to follow), the season's end of most of the European Historics (more of this to come as well), several new books, and more F1 reports by Erik Nielsen. But of all, perhaps the most interesting or at least outrageous, were the two photos sent in by Werner Pfister after his trip to Bonneville. They are published below. Werner also sent us a few shots from the Monterey Historics, and the Concorso Italiano, also below.

A 1963 OSCA RUNNING IN CLASS B/GMS (BLOWN GAS MODIFIED SPORTS). IT IS POWERED BY A 383 CUBIC INCH SUPERCHARGED CHEVY ENGINE AND IS OWNED BY TOM SCHMIDT. THIS CAR IS REMARKABLY STOCK INSIDE AND OUT (OTHER THAN THE MASSIVE FRONT SPOILER) AND RAN A BEST OF 202.577 MPH DURING THE RECENT SPEED WEEK.

THIS TOO, IS ITALIAN: A HIGHLY MODIFIED, TUBE CHASSIS VEHICLE SPORTING A BOAT TAILED ALFA ROMEO DUETTO SPIDER REPLICA BODY (LIKE A FUNNY CAR IN DRAG RACING) BUILT OUT OF FIBERGLASS. IT RUNS IN THE SAME CLASS AS THE OSCA AND IT IS POWERED BY A 400 CUBIC INCH SUPERCHARGED CHEVY ENGINE. MIKE COOK TOOK THIS CAR JUST SHY OF 248 MPH ON THE SALT FLATS.

Werner also captured these favorites at the Monterey Historics. We'll have some in depth reporting in future edition of VT.
