Story and Photos by Alessandro Gerelli
A very rainy edition of the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti in Cortina d’Ampezzo witnessed the victory of Canè Galliani in both the events, the Coppa and the “Alte Sfere Heritage by Bark” of Sunday morning.
As for other international events, the cars in the entry list are becoming more and more “young”: this year no Ferraris, only two Maseratis, no Oscas, one Bugatti, very few etceterinis, few Alfas, but many Jaguar, Triumph, Austin, Porsche.
See the website, Coppadorodelledolomiti for more details.

Regarding the 1947 Fiat 1100S of Borla & Borla shown above, I was in Siena in 2010 and had just come out of the Duomo (cathedral) when this same car drove into the square, weaved it’s way past all the pedestrians (I have photos) and started to exit the square, but then turned around and came back again, disappearing from whence it had come. I said to my wife “he’s lost!” and he was, because we then walked to the Piazza del Campo and discovered that it was being used as a control point for the Gran Premio Nuvolari Rally, a 3 day event similar to the Mille Miglia. I was in heaven for the next hour as I snapped away at the magnificent cars with their fantastic sounds and period dressed crews. By the way, the Fiat 1100S sounded like it was running on only 3 cylinders, so I am wondering why it is pictured on the back of a truck above….
