Alfas at the Bonham’s Auction

Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ prototipo of 1965 built by L. Chizzola of Autodelta as an evolution of the TZ1 (sold for 94300 Euro).
Fangio Tribute

Alfa Romeo 159, with which Fangio won the 1951 World Championship. This car is from the Alfa Museum.

Mercedes Benz W196, Fangio's mount for the 1954 and 1955 World Championship. This car is from the Daimler Benz Museum.

Lancia Ferrari D50 took Ferrari to his 1956 World Championship. Legend has it that all but one of the Lancia Ferraris were destroyed by Ferrari. This car was restored as a Lancia D50 rather than a Lancia Ferrari as driven by Fangio.

Fangio's 250F Maserati from 1957. It would be the last year he would win the World Championship. This particular car is SN 2529, has a long history and is the actual car used by Fangio at the Nurburgring in 1957.
Ferraris at Retro
Is that an Alfa Romeo, or a Renault Dauphine?
Alfa Ondine? I thought we Yanks invented “badge engineering.
Et Al,
I also attended RETROMOBILE, believe this was my 25th year! First time was at Palais Royal in the 70’s. Retromobile has some class, albeit missing , I find in the US..but having said that, believe that Hemmingway had it right “Paris is a Moveable Feast” Expensive 1,40 or so the $$1.00. Cars were great, and not tooo fussy, hence a class act and sense of the creativity of the past. As a Citroen and former owner of Delahayes and Talbots…Could not encourage any Citroenists to attend….but. Une Pichet du Vin Rouge….formidable….
Folks, that is a Renault Dauphine. Amazing!
It’s a reality and not a fake and if you want some informations about this Alfa Romeo Ondine, it’s here
http://www.dauphinomaniac.org/Speciales/ALFA/Alfa.htm
It was a joint venture between Renault and Alfa Romeo which is named “Renault-Italia” . This company had a factory in Portello near Milan and between 1959 and the middle of 1965, more or less 48.000 Alfa romeo Ondine were produced in Italy
. . . uhhhhh; that 1962 Alfa Ondine is the spitting image of a Renault Dauphine. Whazzup?
Love that D50
Not for the last time Alfa has done something awful, who could forget the link up with Nissan using the Cherry body and Alfa mechanicals, I think it was called the Arno however it would have been better called the Po !!!
