This was my first car. A ’57, bought used in Anchorage AK in the winter of 1960, I believe for around $800. I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, had never owned an automobile, had never driven one in winter conditions. It was the perfect car for learning how to drive on slippery stuff; I could spin it almost endlessly and never be out of my lane. A perfectly honest car in every way, including its shortcomings, I drove it over 600 miles one weekend from Anchorage down to Anchor Point on the Kenai Peninsula and back, in the dead of winter, and surviving that trip made me the driver I am. For better or for worse…

I owned two 500’s in the 60’s era. Great fun cars, but my favorite of all my 95 cars (yeah, 95!) was my “66 Fiat Abarth 695SS”; 695cc’s, wood wheel, upgraded instruments, etc. Like to know where it is now!

In the mid 60’s I owned two 500’s. Neither was running when I obtained it. I paid fifty dollars for the first one (A ragtop!) and the owner of the second one just wanted it off of his driveway. I may have put a total of $100 worth of parts in both cars to get them back on the road. At the time I was in High School and a car that could be (Had to be?) driven flat out most of the time was irresistible. I later sold both and followed them with an 1100TV (Again, non-running and free for the taking. By now, deeply in love with FIATs, I parlayed the sales of those three cars and the proceeds from working at a gas station into the purchase of a used Abarth 850 engine. That, along with a Multipla transaxle (So that I could run a pair of 1100 14′ wheels, rear) went into a 600 sedan. Fun times.

As a 500 owner I’m happy you put these up, but wouldn’t it be possible to get them in a size that was readable? Or did I miss a link somewhere?

I have this brochure. Got it to accompany my US Sport (as pictured on the right side of the first page). The US version has the big headlights and rounded bumpers with over riders. The Sport package was the gray & red paint job and an uprated engine. I don’t know if there are more than a dozen US Sports left. When the restoration is done, my car will be as correct as I can possibly make it. Can’t wait to finish it!
