Le Mitiche Sport a Bassano 2011 Images

July 13, 2011 By pete

Photo Story by Dino Brunori

Le Mitiche Sport brings out a wide variety of historic racing cars not seen elsewhere in the world including a great number of of our favorite small displacement Italian sports racers. But also eligible are the legendary big cars like the Mercedes SSK below making it an event not to be missed.

1928 Mercedes SSK is a huge affair next to the miniscule Italian specials. It was driven by the team of Bernhard and Henry Bauer from Germany.

Alfa 6C1500SS, entered by the Greek team of Alexander and Angelos Papoulias.

1931 Aston Martin Le Mans International, designed by Italian A.C. Bertelli.

Francesco Sonvico’s 1937 Carnevalli based on the Fiat 508 Sport.

HRG’s were 1500 cc British race cars which used Meadows and Singer engines. This entry from Gianfranco Mazzola and Claudio Poggi is dated 1939, though the aerodynamic body was probably post war.

Now how’s this for different? A 1946 Lea Francis Sport, Bruno Roma and Primo Ider, entrants.

1947 Bandini, entered by Maria Paolo Chersevani and Francesca Zanetti.

A very attractive 1948 Motto bodied Fiat 1100 Sport, looking much like the contemporary Cisitalia MM. Silvia Nicolas and Nicola Manzini, entrants.

Lancia Paganelli driven by Rosario Menza and Carlo Nicotra, built in 1948.

Georgio Bandini and Giovanni Massimo drove this 1950 Lancia Pasqualin Parisotto.

Roberto and Matteo Crippa, 1953 340 Ferrari MM.

1955 Ermini Sport Comp, driven by Massimo Mortari and Luca De Sanctis.

Jaguar D Type, 1955, more suited to Le Mans than Le Mitichie, is a regular entrant, with Paolo Morigi and Alberto Galassi up. The car is a Lynx replica

Nothing wrong with an MG, particularly when fitted with an American/Italian Devin Ermini body. This is a 1957 car entered by Roberto Ostinet and Aurora Da Ros.
