HA PROVATO LA FERRARI F60, ED ENTRA A FAR PARTE DEL PROGRAMMA FIA INSTITUTE YOUNG DRIVER EXCELLENCE ACADEMY

Lo scorso 15 Novembre, Michael Lewis e Sergio Campana hanno realizzato uno dei loro sogni più belli: guidare una Ferrari Formula 1.
Il test riservato ai vincitori del Campionato Italiano Formula 3, è stato organizzato dalla FerrarI Driver Academy in collaborazione con l’ACI-CSAI e la Scuola Federale di Vallelunga.

Entrambi i piloti hanno avuto a disposizione la Ferrari F60, vettura con cui la Ferrari ha preso parte al Campionato del Mondo nella stagione 2009.
Il primo a prendere possesso della vettura e a scendere in pista è stato il giovane Californiano Michael Lewis, pilota che nel corso della stagione dedicata alle F3 ha ottenuto 3 vittorie ed altrettanti piazzamenti, risultando così il miglior esordiente della stagione 2011.

Michael ha iniziato il suo test alle 9.00 in punto, quando la temperatura della pista era di soli 8° C. Michael ha percorso per un totale di 45 giri, divisi in 6 stint da 7/8 ciascuno, ed ha registrato il suo miglior tempo in 1’20”040.

Alla fine della sua prova, uscendo dalla vettura, ha riportato le sue impressioni al collega Salvatore Tarantino, addetto Stampa del Campionato Italiano Formula 3, “Incredibile, incredibile, incredibile” ha detto Lewis “Ero sicuro che avrei provato un´emozione forte, ma davvero non immaginavo tanto! Rispetto a quanto sono stato abituato a gestire su una monoposto di Formula 3, qui è tutto moltiplicato. Davvero difficile da avvicinare al limite, ma è entusiasmante sentire tutta quella potenza e quella forza nelle curve veloci e in frenata. E´ tutto moltiplicato, ma la dinamica della vettura è la stessa. Non c´è dubbio, la Formula 3 è una scuola straordinaria che mi ha permesso di arrivare preparato. Poi è fantastico che abbia provato tutto questo al volante di una Ferrari di Formula Uno. E´ un sogno per tutti, anche per me che sono americano”.

Nel pomeriggio è stata la volta modenese Sergio Campana che, con due vittorie e sei podi all’attivo, ha dominato la stagione 2011 del campionato italiano F3, campionato che questo’anno ha vissuto la sua 46esima edizione.
Campana ha affrontato la pista con una temperatura di circa 18°C, completando 43 giri e siglando il miglior riscontro cronometrico in 1’.20”60.

Nel corso dei test, i due giovani piloti si sono confrontati con i tecnici della Scuderia Ferrari ad ogni rientro ai box ai quali sono succeduti i progressivi i miglioramenti cronometrici.
Nel corso della conferenza stampa che ha presentato la stagione agonistica 2012 per Formula Tre e Formula Aci Csai Abarth, il Presidente della CSAI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, ha rilasciato un breve intervista e ha detto.” Non posso che essere ancora una volta grato alla Ferrari. E´ grazie a loro se siamo in grado di far vivere un´esperienza da sogno ai talenti sbocciati nei nostri campionati. Questo tipo di interventi, così come la collaborazione con il Ferrari Driver Academy che ci affianca in tutta la filiera istituita dal Karting, alla Formula Aci Csai Abarth e poi alla Formula 3, spero che presto possano coronare il nostro desiderio di vedere un nostro pilota al vertice assoluto anche in Formula Uno”.

Nel corso della stessa conferenza stampa, Luca Baldisserri, responsabile del Ferrari Driver Academy ha annunciato che il Test Premio Ferrari F.1 sarà confermato anche il prossimo anno. La monoposto messa a disposizione dei vincitori del Campionato Italiano F3 e del miglior esordiente, sarà la monoposto del 2010.

Dopo aver completato con successo la sua sessione di test, Michael Lewis si è trasferito in Austria per partecipare alla FIA programma Driver Academy.
Lewis ha superato brillantemente la selezione durata 4 giorni, ed entra quindi di diritto nel programma FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy. Programma cui aderiranno altri due piloti provenienti dal Campionato Italiano F3; Andrea Caldarelli, 21 anni, lo scorso anno terzo assoluto ed in questa stagione impegnato in GP3 Series e Formula Nippon, e il Colombiano Gabby Chaves, 18 anni, campione Esordienti nel 2010 e quest´anno impegnato in GP3 Series.

I test che si sono svolti a Melk, hanno compreso una serie di prove fisiche, psicoattitudinali e di guida, che hanno visto impegnati 28 piloti provenienti da 25 differenti paesi.
La commissione esaminatrice guidata dall´ex pilota di Formula Uno Alex Wurz ha scelto Caldarelli, Lewis e Chaves inserendoli nel lotto di 18 piloti che saranno presto impegnati in una serie di incontri di lavoro di alta formazione.

Nelle prossime settimane, Michael resterà in Italia per avviare un programma di test invernali con il PREMA Powerteam in previsione della partecipazione nella F-3 auto Euro Series.

Michael tornerà a casa negli Stati Uniti nel mese di dicembre per partecipare all’annuale Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando.
