MONDIAL DE L’ AUTOMOBILE, October 4-19 2014 The car exhibition in Paris was a great success with an incredible number of visitors and, of course, all the car manufacturers present with many new models.
For VeloceToday, have limited my photo report to the most important Italian makes plus a few of other cars with bodies designed by Italian coach builders. In addition to all the new cars, there was another hall featuring cars and fashions over the ages, click here to see those photos. https://velocetoday.com/paris-2014/

I found out once that Ford bought the name Vignale when they bought Ghia Carrozzeria and, there’s a law that says if you don’t use the name every five years at least once, you forfeit it.It is odd to me that Ford builds a Vignale signature car every few years but they don’t seem to be trying to hang onto the name Ghia which to me is far wider known than Vignale.
Also the 4C convertible (spyder) I like a little better than the coupe which seems like an “emperor has no clothes car” in that everybody is so enthusiastic about the carbon fiber tub, nobody wants to say how ugly it is, particularly the big-as-pizzas taillights. I saw the coupe in person last Sunday at the Art Center show and just couldn’t see how it can be deserving of more than a C-plus in styling.
The Mini by Superleggera shows how far from the original New Mini concept BMW has come; lost the original MINI completely with this car, which could be from any brand automaker. The single tailfin is a hoot, I think Harry Bradley, the former Art Center teacher, first came up with that revival when he put a tailfin in the center of his Infiniti J30 trunk…
