While on the Car Guy Tour, I was shocked to learn of Dott. Ing. Giulio Alfieri's passing this afternoon, March 20, in Modena, Italy.
The brilliant engineer of Maserati fame, whose life was consumed with the great GT cars of the 50's, 60's and 70's, passed away this afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Modena time. Mr. Alfieri had been ill for a month and was undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor.
His passing will be a great loss to all those who knew and admired him not only for his work but personally.
Mr. Alfieri, who was in his late 70's, is survived by his wife, Camille, and son, Vittorio, and had been working in his son's business up until the time he became ill. His funeral was held Thursday, March 21.
Sincerely,
Frank Mandarano

Yet another interesting and informative website has come to our attention. It is www.CarsfromItaly.com,
and includes separate pages for Ferrari, Lancia, Alfa, Fiat and Maserati. In addition, there are history pages on 48 other Italian cars, including Ansaldo, Bandini, Moretti and Abarth. Roland Ellison, the webmaster, has put together a vast amount of information, from books, to part, histories, galleries,
a forum, and events listing. A must have bookmark for anyone interested in Italian cars.
Driver in search of a car
One of our new contributors, James Steerman, who now owns the Lancia Dagrada featured in the March 7th edition of VeloceToday, is looking for a ride. He must complete his VSCCA driver's school at Lime Rock in April but the Dagrada can't be muffled. If you know of anyone who would be both kind and brave enough to lend a VSCCA eligible vintage car to James, contact him at jaesteerman@yahoo.com.
