VeloceToday Correspondent
Rick Carey
East Coast, USA
Rick brings to VeloceToday his wide experience with auctions. He is known for his ability to analyze market trends, instinctive knowledge of
design, and an in-depth knowledge of cars in general. A self-described "free lance drifter", Rick contributes to the Ferrari Market Letter,
Classic and Sports Car, and AutoWeek, among others.
Home is Mystic Connecticut, where he lives with his wife, and is enjoying his "vivacious red haired granddaughter, Hanna". Happily, his hobby is
his work, but he also enjoys opera and woodworking when cars "wear thin".
He currently owns a 1967 Alfa Giulia Sprint he bought from new (must be a record here), and a 1980 Maserati Quattroporte.
Rick says "There is no such thing as a favorite car, it varies from month to month. The 8C Alfas are never far from the top of the list, however."
In 1993, Rick helped the Callaway team raise sponsorship for a Le Mans entry, which meant he was able to attend both Daytona and Le Mans with the Callaway Corvette team. "We raised $3 million plus, and sold not a few Callaway Vettes, Camaros and Impalas in my spare time. And if you've never experienced a 435 hp Impala SS, you haven't lived".
