Ed McDonough Great Britian
We first became aware of Ed McDonough through the pages of the British publication, Auto Italia. Ed’s track tests of superb and rare Italian machinery (including the Lancia D50 recreation) are the best features of the magazine. It was apparent that Ed was a ‘gotta have’ for us, and we are proud to be able to present his work in VeloceToday. His review of La Scommessa di Gianni Lancia is today’s feature.
Born in the U. S., Ed left for Great Britain in the Sixties and stayed on. He participated in the World Sports Car Championship in 1973, drove in the UK Alfa Romeo series for eight years, as well as driving in many long distance races including Le Mans and the Nurburgring.

Currently, Ed serves as the European Editor of Vintage Racecar Journal, is the senior
contributor to Auto Italia (UK); contributes to Autocollezioni (Italy). He is a long-time Alfa Romeo enthusiast, who
chaired the UK Alfa Romeo Owners Club from 1992-2001. In his spare time Ed wrote Ferrari 156 Sharknose. A book on Vanwall book is being completed, and a book on the Rodriguez Brothers is nearly complete.
Next Tuesday, Ed will give us a firsthand report of what it was like to drive the D50 recreation—so stay tuned.
