Supercars in Costume

October 30, 2018 By pete

Story and photos by Richard Bartholomew

Why should children have all the fun of dressing up and scaring people? Though we get no treats from these endeavors that won’t stop us from pulling a little trick this time of year – actually all year – but here we go…spooky chopped tops and scary suicide doors abound, extra headlights or none at all, be afraid be very afraid. A lot of people are.

Sometimes I imagine after seeing these images the owners of the models of these supercars rush out to the garage to make sure their classic car is safe and hasn’t morphed into some crazy new body style. Or that they will never look at their prize the same way again after seeing my version.

None of these cars exist outside of computer files on a computer but if they did, the time to show them off would be Halloween (or perhaps another special class at Pebble Beach). Still there is no real reason to be afraid because no actual supercar was harmed in the making of this story. Not yet anyway. But it may give others ideas.

The Ferrari California looks like a prototype of a future Ferrari SUV. Scary!

Funny…..although the Ferrari Maranello – minus 2 sets of front sidelights, looks quite nice.

The pickup truck convertible looks marketable (since Americans are crazy over pickups) but I always wondered, in those configurations, what stops the cargo from sliding from the pickup bed into the passenger compartment when you jam on the brakes? Shelby and Dodge made one a few years ago.
