Story and photos by Jonathan Sharp
It rained on Saturday but that obviously did not stop the racing or Jonathan Sharp, and he weathered the wet conditions to achieve some spectacular images. Also in the 26 images below are the photos of the Jack Brabham Tribute and the cars that represented the “Return to Power” years of the 3 liter unblown formula. Ed.
Goodwood in the rain
Jack Brabham Tribute

Jack Brabham shared a Matra MS650 with Francois Cevert to win the 1970 Paris 1000km. Brabham also shared a Ford Galaxy (behind) with Dan Gurney to finish 9th in the 1963 Brands Hatch 6 hour race.
Return to Power

Tiff Needell leaving the assembly area in Lotus 49 R49/3 being followed by another 49 in the Rob Walker colors of Jo Siffert.

1968 Cooper Alfa Romeo T86C with power coming from an Alfa T33 engine. Not very successful and now fitted with a Montreal engine. Ex Lucien Bianchi.

1966 Lotus type 43 H16 powered by a BRM H16. Jim Clark won at Watkins Glen, the only victory for the H16 engine.
And then…

Rotorvic: Power comes from 6 250cc Aerial Arrow twin cylinder motor bike engines configured as an air cooled two stroke 1483cc V12. Originally conceived by RV Marchant, a senior engineer for Lotus cars. Entirely bespoke and unique, it is believed that the car only raced once at Brands Hatch in October 1965.

What fun! I have to admit those guys racing in the rain are a lot braver/richer/better insured than I am.
