Jeff Allison and Willem Oosthoek scoured their files for photos in the short time available after learning of Augie Pabst’s death. They’re not all conclusive, but they do show his talent and versatility driving such a diverse variety of cars with different teams, at different tracks and in different conditions. He was one of the best!
Be sure to read the special tribute to Augie which also appeared in this edition of VeloceToday.

Seeing E.B. Lunken’s name reminds me that his widow writes a very entertaining column for Flying magazine.

Thank you Frank for your comment. I need to make a correction and add some clarifying information about Edmund Pattison Lunken, who was also known as E.P. or Ebby. He was the driver of the #14 250 Testa Rossa in the first photo. In fact, it was his last and final race. Ebby was an accomplished pilot and amateur driver, who owned a number of Ferraris during his racing career. The photo should have been credited to his son, Edmund B. Lunken, who was known as E.B. or Young Ebby. He raced from 1976-1982 in SCCA, world sports car championship and Can-Am events.
