What can our readers tell us about this Bandini?

We continue with the amazing coverage of this year’s Auto e Moto d’Epoca at Bologna thanks to the efforts of Jonathan Sharp. (Read Part 1) There is just so much to be seen and photographed at this show, and it is a pleasure to be able to bring this to our readers, as if we had all been able to attend the show ourselves. Alfas and Abarths and oddballs this week and we haven’t even processed the rest of the Etceterinis, Ferraris and Maseratis, which we will fit in next week.

Alfa 33 convertible
This fantastic Alfa Sprint was originally manufactured in December 1956 and delivered to Sig. Felipe Antonio of Casablanca, Morocco, in January 1957, and finished in blue. The Sprint later returned to Europe, and restoration work was performed from 2011 to 2013 by Italian specialists, including the renowned firm Quality Cars S.R.L., known for producing some of the finest show-winning restorations in the world.
The current owner has admired Giuliettas since he was a young boy growing up in Italy, and he acquired this rare Alfa Romeo in 2017. He has subsequently enjoyed the Alfa on the road, and in 2019 his son drove the car on the exclusive 1000 Miglia Storica and successfully completed the famous event.

Another vehicle courtesy of the Collezione ASI Bertone, designed by Marcello Gandini, the Bertone/Suzuki GO amphibious vehicle. Powered by a 3 cylinder 67 bhp 750cc Suzuki motorcycle engine, the Go (for go anywhere) was first shown at the 1972 Brussels Motor Show.
On the Vernasca Silver Flag stand, a rather mean-looking Bizzarrini 5300.
The Bologna show will, 9 times out of 10, contain a car that not only have you never seen before, but have never heard of. The 1947 Magda Sport 1100 compressor, for me, being a case in point. Founded in Czechoslovakia in 1936 by racing driver Jaroslav Vicek and named after his wife Magda, his first designs were built on Nash chassis. It was only after the war that Vicek built his own tubular chassis for his Magda 111.
It was then equipped with an 1100cc 4 cylinder Fiat motor fitted with a volumetric compressor producing 90 bhp. Magda 111 was raced extensively in Germany and Czechoslovakia. In 1950 the car was sold to Mr Svoboda who raced Magda 111 with much success. Approximately 10 years ago the abandoned car was discovered and its history traced. The listing for the car states that is complete in every way, retaining all its original parts, even down to the compressor, and is ready to race.
Displayed courtesy of the Moretti Enonsolo Museum, designed by Michelotti’s then head of design Dany Brawand, this Moretti 1500SS dates from 1968 and is one a few coupes built by Moretti based on the Fiat 1500/1600 S Cabriolet.
Right behind the 1500 S is the MORETTI-FIAT 127 MIDIMAXI, also designed by Dany Brawand in 1971.
