British Trofeo Abarth 500 Championship

Where is Chrysler when you finally want them?

Details of the 2010 Trofeo Abarth 500 GB Championship were given at the Autosport International Racing Car show, held at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham between the 14th and 17th January.


The series is for Abarth tuned Fiat 500 cars. There were three cars on display, all race prepared and ready to run. The provisional calendar for the 2010 season is as follows:
3/5 April Oulton Park (Supporting British F3/GT Championships)
17/18 April Silverstone GP circuit (Supporting FIA Formula 2 Championship)
TBC Snetterton (Supporting BSB)
17/18 July Brands Hatch GP circuit (Supporting World Touring Car Championship and FIA Formula 2 championship)
24/25 July Silverstone GP circuit (Silverstone Classic)
4/5 September Brands Hatch Indy circuit (Event tbc)
TBC Spa Francorchamps, Belgium.
Each race meeting will consist of two 25 minute practice sessions on the Friday, a 25 minute qualification session on the Saturday, followed by a 30 minute race. Another 30 minute race will take place on the Sunday, with the Sunday grid being decided by fastest lap times in the Saturday race 1.

The overall champion driver at the end of the season will win an Abarth road car. The winning team will win an engine and gearbox, while the winning Dealer will be awarded a trophy. The individual race prize fund is £400 for a race win, £300 for finishing 2nd and £200 for 3rd place, with the winning team collected a trophy.
The organisers are looking for a maximum entry of 32 cars, and the seasons entry fee is £10,000 plus VAT. The car specification will be limited 190HP, 900 KG minimum weight, 5 speed H pattern gearbox, Drexler Diff, Race Tech dampers and Brembo Brakes. For the race the engine, gearbox, ECU and turbocharger will be sealed, and after each race a complete car disassembly will take place as well as random checks which will be undertaken during the events.
