Milan Autoclassica 2014
Story and Photos by Alessandro Gerelli
This is a rather new event for Milano, the city which will host the World Expo 2015. But every year the success grows and the number and quality of the cars increases. The 2014 show featured more car restorers, many dealers and the usual owner clubs.
Notably, I have seen a lot of old Italian cars. But at this show, I found a few I had never seen before!
Sharp at the VSCC Silverstone
Whilst Graham Gauld was meeting and greeting at the VSCC Spring Start race meeting at Silverstone, Jonathan Sharp was there scooting around with his camera to bring you the following report:

My passion has always been for Italian cars but sometimes I like to go off script; so the idea of an ERA-only race to celebrate its 80th anniversary of the (which will be covered separately) plus various support races, plus a scattering of their period adversaries including a few Maserati’s and Bugattis, was simply too much to miss. My alarm clock seems to be permanently set to 3.30 am, this being the start time of most of my recent trips abroad. This time it was set so as I could catch the Eurostar (so much more civilized than flying) to Paris to take a look at the cars entered in this year’s Tour Auto. Read about the Bugattis at Members Meeting
To the uninitiated it must have seemed strange to call a new race meeting the 72nd Members meeting, held on March 29-30 2014.
This was not technically a new event, but a revival of older and very well established event. Years ago, the members meetings at Goodwood were run for members of the British Automobile Racing club. The first Members Meeting took place on the 18th September 1948. The 71st Members meeting (they were more than annual) was the final race meeting held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit on the 2nd July 1966, just before the circuit’s closure. These meetings attracted many a future top driver as well as the more down to earth club racers and were as popular for the members for the social side as to the racing itself. Old at Geneva with Alessandro Gerelli
Story and photos by Alessandro Gerelli
A glance at the past at Geneva
Old classic cars are very rarely seen at the Geneva Autos Show. But this year, the number of wonderful old jewels has increased and were very interesting.
In one of the halls there was an exhibition of Le Mans winners and cars from the 20s to today, which attracted the attention of the visitors.
The cars in the show include the first Le Mans winner, a Chenard & Walcker driven by Lagache and Leonard at the speed of 92 km/h, the Ferrari 166MM of Thomson and Chinetti who won the first post WWII edition of the race and many other cars, including the French Matra, Peugeot and Rondeau.
A few more old Alfas were around plus an Ermini and a lovely Abarth 695. [Read more…] about Old at Geneva with Alessandro Gerelli

Gerelli looks at the Italian Supercars at this year’s Geneva Auto Show.
The Geneva Motor show is a traditional event that attracts thousands of visitors every year from all over the world. All the car manufacturers present their new models, including super cars and concept cars.
I first wanted to photograph Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and Abarth cars, but I could not avoid the Pagani, Bugatti and some masterpieces of the most famous Italian coach builders, including a couple of cars coming from Slovakia.
Most of these cars are dream cars, but……let us dream! [Read more…] about New at Geneva with Alessandro Gerelli
Clipsal 500 Adelaide, South Australia, March 2, 2014
Story and photos by Vince Johnson
With the Australian GT Championship missing from the program at the opening round of the Aussie V8 Supercars at the Adelaide street circuit, the only Italians to be found were the club and dealer displays of the two-wheeled variety. Taking the place of the Gallardos and 458 Italias was the Touring Car Masters category. Six years ago, this group of 60’s and 70’s muscle cars held their first race around the streets of the South Australian capital at this event and twenty-seven of them formed up behind the pace car for the first race late on Friday afternoon. The view from a muddy field, the Live Rally stage at Race Retro
Race Retro is not just a show of static racing cars. (Read Roy P. Smith’s report of the show inside). A key element of the show is the live Rally stage in which various Rallying greats are demo’d enthusiastically by their passionate owners. The highlights on the stage this year for VeloceToday readers had to have been the Lancia Delta S4, a Ferrari 308 GTB Michelotto, a pair of Renault 5 Turbos and an Alpine 110.
