For Ferrari’s 458 Italia, 2011 was an exceptional year. In addition to the many awards and accolades from the international press, the Prancing Horse berlinetta won many successes in major national and international GT racing.
The Ferrari 458 from Piacenza Italy, managed by the AF Corse team and driven in the races by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni , captured the Le Mans Series, winning two of the five scheduled races, coming second in two others and failing only in the race held at the Portuguese Estoril circuit.

GTE Pro Category
The Ferrari 458 Italy also took the title in the category GTE Pro (for GTs derived from standard models, driven by professional drivers). The team and driver Championships were won respectively by AF Corse, which won over the British JMW Motorsport with a 458 Italia with Championship drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni, who bested the English duo Rob Bell and James Walker driving for JMW.
Italian GTE Championship
The Italia also won the Italian championship in the category for GTE cars, ahead of the Porsche 911 RSR and the Aston Martin Vantage. Again headed by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni, the 458 managed by AF Corse won the Intercontinental Cup in the Le Mans GTE Pro category.
In 2011, the 458 Italia achieved major successes in several championships, carrying on the legacy of the F430. The Italia is already one of the most successful cars in the history of GT Racing.
GT3
Also important was the success of Leo-Castellacci (AF Corse) in the FIA GT3 category where Ferrari debuted this year for the first time with its own car, and GT3 Championship victory in ASIA with the pilot Weng Sun of Singapore driving for the Clearwater Racing team.

Grand Am for 2012
And as we announced here, the 458 will debut in the Grand Am category at Daytona, Florida, from 26 and 29 January 2012.

Derived from the GT3 and produced in collaboration with Michelotto, the 458 Grand Am will be assigned to crews consisting of the Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip, the North American Rally Champion Travis Pastrana and two veterans of endurance races, Rui Aguas and Robert Kauffman. This will kickoff the first of the thirteen events scheduled in the intense 2012 Grand Am season.

In Italia
Per la Ferrari 458 Italia, il 2011 è stato un anno eccezionale, oltre ai tanti premi e riconoscimenti ottenuti dalla stampa internazionale, la berlinetta del Cavallino rampante ha ottenuto numerosi successi nei principali campionati GT nazionali ed internazionali.
La debuttante Ferrari 458 Italia gestita dal team piacentino AF Corse e portata in gara da Giancarlo Fisichella e Gianmaria Bruni ha vinto la Le Mans Series, vincendo due delle cinque gare in programma, arrivando seconda in altre due e ritirandosi solo nella prova svoltasi sul circuito portoghese dell’Estoril.
La Ferrari 458 Italia ha conquistato il titolo nella categoria GTE Pro (riservato alle GT derivate da modelli di serie, guidate da piloti professionisti) riservato alle squadre, e quello riservato ai piloti.
Campionati vinti rispettivamente dalla AFCorse, che ha preceduto la britannica JMW Motorsport, anch’essa in gara con una 458 Italia, che il Campionato dedicato ai piloti con
Giancarlo Fisichella e Gianmaria Bruni, che hanno preceduto il duo inglese Rob Bell e James Walker.
La Berlinetta italiana ha anche vinto il campionato nella categoria riservata alle vetture GTE, precedendo la Porsche 911 RSR e la Aston Martin Vantage.
Sempre affidata a Giancarlo Fisichella e Gianmaria Bruni, la 458 Italia gestita dalla AF Corse, ha vinto l’Intercontinental Le Mans Cup nella combattutissima categoria GTE Pro.
Nell’anno del suo debutto, oltre ai prestigiosi titoli citatati, la 458 Italia ha regalato importanti soddisfazioni in numerosi campionati, raccogliendo degnamente l’eredità della F430, già considerata una delle vetture più vittoriose nella storia delle Competizioni GT.
Importante è stato inoltre il successo di Castellacci-Leo (AF Corse) nel campionato FIA GT3, categoria dove Ferrari ha esordito quest’anno per la prima volta con una propria vettura, e la vittora nel Campionato GT3 ASIA con il pilota di Singapore Weng Sun Mok sulla 458 del team Clearwater Racing.
Ricordiamo che la 458 debutterà nella categoria Grand Am a Dayatona, in Florida, in occasione della 24 ore che si svolgerà tra il 26 e il 29 gennaio 2012.
Derivata dalla GT3 e realizzata in collaborazione con Michelotto, la 458 Grand Am sarà affidata all’equipaggio composto dal campione della Daytona 500 Michael Waltrip, dal campione di Rally Nordamericano Travis Pastrana e da due veterani delle gare endurance come Rui Aguas e Robert Kauffman che, proprio a Daytona, affronteranno il primo dei tredici appuntamenti previsti nell’intenso calendario Grand Am.
