24 Hours of LeMans
The class winning Risi Ferrari 430GT of Salo, Bruni and Melo leads through the midnight hours.
Richard Prince was at this year’s Le Mans and came back with some great images of the Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the GT class.
Risi Competizione, based at Houston Ferrari, pulled off a well-earned victory in the highly competitive GT2 class, and was followed by three other Ferrari 430GTs for a clean sweep.
In the GT1 class, a lone Lamborghini Murcielago kept on running but only completed 266 laps and was not classified. Aston Martin went on to win the GT1 class.
The overall win went to Audi Sport North America and second was the Total Team Peugeot.
The Farnbacher Racing F430 GT was third in the GT2 class.
Virgo Motorsport Ferrari F430GT retired after blowing the engine.
Led by engineer Rick Mayer and crew chief Chris Riggs, each of the winning car’s 27 pit stops was performed faultlessly.
For Mika Salo, the ex F1 driver, “GT2 is fun–especially when yo win!…and to have four Ferraris in the top six in class is impressive.”
The F430GT of Biaggi/Montanari retired after a good drive.
Number 99 Ferrari of JMB Racing was fourth in class and 25th overall.
The Farnbacher Ferrari was driven by the team of Ehret, Kaffer and Nielsen.
Second in the GT2 class was the Scuderia Italia entry piloted by Malucelli, Ruberti and Babini.

The Risi car was running Michelins–“My faith in the Michelin brand of tire has been fully rewarded…” said Risi.
