The National Motoring Heritage Day is held on the third Sunday of May every year and celebrates Australia’s motoring heritage in all forms, from veteran and vintage to modern classics, cars, ‘bikes and commercials.
There are various nominated destinations around the country which invite clubs or anyone with a suitable vehicle to show their wheels. At Berry in southern NSW the showground was packed with a wide variety from club displays of Packards, Mustangs, Mercedes, Triumphs, Holdens, Jaguars and some rare Americans as well as the private entries from interested individuals all of which was organized by the Shoalhaven Historic Vehicle Club.
Luckily for a late autumn day the weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot and the event keeps everyone happy with a variety of catering and a brass band playing in the shade.
A large group from the Italian Made Social Motoring Club dominated the center of the field and drew a large crowd all day with Ferraris and Maseratis mixed in with the Fiats and Alfas.
In another corner was a group of fifties Peugeots, accompanied by a unique Peugeot racer and there were a few Citroëns in other parts of the park.
Trophies were awarded for many categories but most are content with the camaraderie and the chance to meet other enthusiasts.
