Story and Photos by Alessandro Gerelli

During the weekend of the Concours of Elegance this year held in Edinburgh, (see stories) RM Sotheby’s had its traditional auction in London. About 75 were on the block, with many Ferraris and few other Italians including Maserati, Lamborghini, Alfa, Lancia.

The results of the auction were rather good with about 75% of cars sold and a record price of 4.760.000 pounds (6.5 million euros) for the Ferrari 250 Tour de France chassis 0897 GT.

All the final prices were in line with the estimates with the only exception of the result for the Fiat 500 that was 25% higher: 18000 pounds (24700 euros) against 14000 of the estimate.

All the amounts in the captions are in euros after conversion and rounding from British pounds and include the buyer’s premium.
