The Shell Ferrari Historics will begin 2010 at the Cavallino Classic, at Palm Beach International Raceway, on January 21 and 22, 2010.
For 2010, the purpose of the Shell Ferrari Historic series will remain unchanged, to allow the drivers of historic Ferrari race cars (and selected others: Maserati race cars and pre-war Alfas) to enjoy their cars in a safe competitive environment on historic tracks in North America, with the maximum track time possible.
An exciting new aspect of the Shell Historics will be the addition of 288 GTO and GTO/E and the F40LM. These cars (and drivers) will require approval on an individual basis. There will be a class for these cars added to the Disc Brake Group. However, please note that the emphasis of the Shell Historics will remain on the older cars which created the Ferrari legend.
One point of clarification for those seeking to enter a car: A Ferrari (or Maserati or Alfa Romeo) does not need to be certified by Ferrari Classiche to participate in the series. The organizers strongly encourage owners to have Ferraris certified, for many reasons; there is also a new Ferrari certification for race cars which were modified in period.
The Shell Historics does not accept replicas, such as GTOs or TRs made from GTEs or similar. If you have a question about eligibility of a particular car, please contact David Seibert, project manager for the series.
