This event provided the opportunity to forget for a while the Covid virus and to enjoy the view of a lot of cars of the past. It was also the opportunity to celebrate the 90 years of Pininfarina, with many wonderful cars and the presentation of the new official book “Pininfarina 90 years” by Giorgio Nada Editore.

Our faithful correspondent in Milan recently visited one of the largest automobile shows in Italy, Milano AutoClassica, held from November 22-25. Alessandro Gerelli lives in Bresso, near Milan, and has sent us his reports from this event for many years. We thought that since the AutoClassica event is well -described elsewhere, it is an appropriate time to say a few words about the author/photographer before we present this year’s AutoClassica coverage. Iso Lele, 1969-1974

The Iso Lele, the last of the line.

Story by staff

Last week Alessandro Gerelli sent us these photos from a small but interesting group of Isos gathered at the old Bresso plant on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Iso Lele. Looking for additional information, I resorted to my copy of Winston Goodfellow’s book, ISORIVOLTA, The Men, the Machines,* published in 1995 by Giorgio Nada. It brought to mind the years that shook the world of the automobile as we knew it. The ten years of Iso cars, from 1963 to 1973, witnessed enormous changes in the industry, and the history of Iso is a chronicle of those times. [Read more…] about Iso Lele, 1969-1974

The annual Paris Motor Show aka Mondial De L’Auto in Paris was held from October 4 to the 14 at 1 Place de la Porte de Versailles, 75015 Paris, France. It is a huge event, as can be seen from the map below, with multiple features ranging from motorcycles to parts to displays of both new and classic cars. Some major manufacturers were missing, and there was much discussion of the new WLTP standards, electric cars and the death of the diesel. However, we shall remain focused on the classics. Milano AutoClassica by Alessandro Gerelli

Last Friday Alessandro Gerelli had a chance to visit the yearly Milano AutoClassica, held at the Fiera Milano Rho over the weekend of 24-25-26 November.

The event is broken up into several sections: A huge exhibiton hall with room for 2000 vintage cars for sale, the traditional motorsport event in the parking lot, another space just for the sale of spare parts, another section devoted to display current exotics, this year featuring Bentley, Lotus and McLaren, and the only show to feature the Ferrari Classiche with its own workshop. It would probably take the entire weekend to see all of the show. [Read more…] about Milano AutoClassica by Alessandro Gerelli

This year Automédon was held October 8-9 at the Parc des expositions du Bourget in Paris, France. While not yet RetroMobile, the weather is far better and many of the neatest cars are found in the car park outside. Per the PR sheet, “The vintage car-park is Automédon’s icing on the cake. Busy, lively and always renewed, it presents each and every brand, all the models from the most popular ones to the rarest ones. The vehicles are over 30 years old. The cars keep arriving and going during the two days of the Show, thus creating a continuous, vivid ballet.” It is certainly the editor’s favorite part of the event.
