Evi Gurney

And How! A Letter from Evi

November 4, 2024 By pete

This is a perfect fit for an “And How.” Coming on the heels of my story on Dan Gurney, which was read by Dan’s widow Evi, you will see by her attached email that his story touched her very deeply, and the photos stirred many memories of Dan for her. I am so happy that she graciously allowed her feelings to be shared with us. Evi also included many new activities going on at All American Racers that will be of interest to all your readers. Thank you, Peter and Evi for letting me share her feelings with your readers.–Allen R. Kuhn

Dear Allen,

So good to hear from you and to know that you are well and active .

Just when I thought I had no more tears left your Dan tribute and your splendid photographs show up on my screen and well …. Here he is , my beloved Dan, young, handsome, talented and determined, so long ago when life was still ahead.

Eagles at Road America

July 25, 2022 By pete

S.Scott Callan’s website is one of the most unusual and well written we’ve ever encountered. The history is accurate, the photos are fantastic, and he uses a format that allows his work to be elegantly displayed. It is always worth a visit and a long surf. Here is a excerpt from his latest adventure. [Ed.]

Story and Photos by S. Scott Callan

This year at the WeatherTech International Challenge at Road America was quite different. Two Historic Race Circuits (HRC) members had made a special effort to have this year’s focus on Dan Gurney and his Eagles. The Collier brought the Spa winning F1 car. The selection of Indy cars was significant, not only in their exploration of aero effects, but also in their array of engines which were experimentally impressive, ingenious in configuration, and sometimes outright amusing.
