It’s hard to believe that the 458 Italia, which seems so new to me, is already the “old model” and Ferrari is replacing it with a new model called the 488 GTB, essentially the Italia with many improvements and a turbocharged engine. The Blancpain Endurance Series was organized in parallel with the FIA GT3 European Championship and the GT4 European Cup and is approved by the FIA and presented by the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium and SRO Motorsports Group, with the support of the prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer.

After the GT2, GT3 and Challenge versions of the 458, on 18 July, at the Fiorano circuit, debuted the Ferrari 458 Italia Grand Am, a model name one is more likely to remember, if in fact it becomes official nomenclature.

What we know so far about the new Ferrari V8

Technically the new Ferrari 458 Italia advances the art of the road going mid-engined car by making it almost as fast as the Enzo at a much lower cost.

The 458 Italia is going to be marketed with an automatic, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission designed to increase performance and still deliver very smooth shifts even at full throttle. The engineers have developed specific, sportier gear ratios to match the power and torque curves of the new V8, knowing that high torque is the key to acceleration even at lower engine speeds.
