Cavallino Classic 2020

February 11, 2020 By pete

Tom Peck’s 750 Monza prototype, s/n 0428 MD, won the Scuderia Ferrari Cup at the Cavallino Classic, awarded to the finest competition Ferrari on the field. This Ferrari started out as a 500 Mondial in 1954, but was quickly upgraded to a 750 Monza at the factory.

The 29th annual Cavallino Classic was held from January 22 to 26 in Palm Beach, Florida, headquartered at The Breakers Hotel and Resort. I’ve been lucky enough to have attended 26 of these Ferrari fests, many as a concours judge and concours entrant (for 2020, I was an entrant). This year, the weather was great, the Ferrari turnout was great, and it was great to reunite with dozens of Ferrari friends.

And finally, on Sunday everyone gathers at Mar A Lago for an exhibition of cars produced up to the 1970s, and a charity brunch. As usual it was a great success of weather, people and, last but not least, of cars! [Read more…] about Cavallino 2014 Part 1: Palm Beach International Raceway

A Brit in the Court of Cavallino Part 2

February 7, 2013 By pete

Ferrari 250 GT Chassis 2429GT on parade.

Englander Jonathan Sharp continues his notebook and letter to VeloceToday, ever more awed by quality, presentation and rarity of the Ferraris featured at Cavallino.

Story and Photos by Jonathan Sharp

Saturday, The Breakers

The WOW factor started on the walk from the Chesterfield hotel to the Breakers. A lovely, warm, bright-blue-skied morning was enlivened by the sound of two V12s running in convoy, a beautiful special-bodied 250TdF followed by the 375MM, both motoring towards the Breakers. I certainly hastened my step after seeing and hearing that!
