Techno Classica Essen 2013

April 25, 2013 By vanhoolandt

1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super was used to transport special visitors of the factory in Arese, like the President of the Italian Republic in 1966.

The Techno Classica Show in Essen, Germany, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. During those 25 years, it became the world’s biggest fair for classic cars, with +2,500 cars on sale. Many manufacturers or importers understand the importance of a presence in Essen, showing everything they had on hand. But like Retro, Techno Classica is not only about cars for sale, it is also a fair for automotive artists, automobilia sellers, literature, restorers, parts dealers, with 1,200 exhibitors. You simply cannot see everything in one day.

Here is a (small) look at this year’s edition …

1948 Alfa Romeo 2500 SS Villa d’Este by Touring remains an all-time classic.

Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 Daytona from the Alfa Romeo Museum.

Bizzarrini 1900 GT Europa was a scaled down interpretation of the bigger 5300 GT Strada.

This Bugatti Type 57 Atalante was part of this year’s special exhibition named ‘Automobile Masterpieces’.

A few nice Cisitalias were on sale like this 202 C Spider by Stabilimenti Farina…

…or this 202 SC berlinetta by Vignale…

…or even the rarer 303 F of which only 8 or 9 are known today.

Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale cabriolet s/n 0227 EL.

Ferrari Classiche-certified 275 GTB s/n 07991.

Some authentic Maserati A6 GCSs were fitted with replica body of the famous berlinetta Pinin Farina. This one is said to be one of them. S/n anyone?

A ground-up restoration for this Maserati 5000 GT Allemano coupé.

Siata specialised in modifying cars manufactured by Fiat like this Fiat 500- based spider …

...or tuned Fiat engines like in this Gilco 750 Siluro.

Siata also built his own models like the Daina. Here is a 1952 Sport Coupé by Bertone.

Simca 8 Sport is the sister car of the Cisitalia 202, the design by Stabilimenti Farina and the mechanicals being similar.

The ‘Rendez vous’ of 1955 was Vignale’s interpretation of the Fiat 600.

The strange looking French Autobleu 750 was built for the 1954 Mille Miglia. It was equipped with a tuned Renault 4 CV engine.

1946 Delahaye 135MS by Pourtout has a streamlined body inspired by Georges Paulin’s pre-war designs.

Talbot-Lago T150 ‘Teardrop’ by Figoni&Falaschi has its place in an exhibit for ‘Automobiles Masterpieces’. But does anyone knows if this one is an original or a replica?

1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport Saoutchik coupé was loaned by the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands.

1948 was also the year for this Talbot-Lago T26 Record Convertible, with a factory body design.

French coachbuilder Henri Chapron built only 7 cabriolets on the Citroën SM, called Mylord.

Peugeot was showing their rally stars; the 504 coupé which had victories in the African rallies in the 70’s and the 205 Turbo 16 of the Group B era.
