WYSS GOES WARHOL (ESQUE)
Our frequent contributor, scribe/artist Wallace Wyss announced his newest illustration trend–a la Warhol. “I really didn’t think of making a tribute to Andy,” Wyss says, “but when I had to change the color a few times on the printing press for my illustration of one car, I thought , why not show the variations? Maybe that’s how Andy thought of it.”
Wyss will award one signed print to the first person who posts a comment below identifying the make and model of the car.
Those who are planning on attending the Concorso Italiano on August 19th should find a booth where Wyss will be displaying the tribute to Andy print, plus a few other design rendering prints in the original designer’s styles along with his regular full color depictions of Italy’s greatest sports cars. Those who won’t make Monterey can find his work on www.albaco.com Also, interested parties can write photojournalistpro@hotmail.com

Good Morning,
I’m a huge fan of Auto Art and absolutely no offence to the talent of Mr. Wyss, but why? It’s like the re-making of a great film or the re-body of a 250 chassis………. Enjoy the real thing or buy one if your able, but what’a I know………..
Enjoy your weekend………

Looks to be a Ferrari 275 GTB “Short nose”, although those that said it’s a ’64 GTO may be right.
Dave Faulkner says
I think that is a Ferrari 275GTB — nice warholesque job
Virgil taylor says
I saw the GTO LM at Daytona (Hill & Rodriguez) 1964. It ran against the first Daytona Cobra coup which caught fire. A beautiful car, a meld of the GTO and the 275 LM.
Woody Richey says
This lovely Ferrari appears to be a 275 GT with Pinunfarina coachwork (Berlinetta) in competion trim, sans bumpers.
David Gutierrez says
It’s a 1963 Ferrari GTO
David L. Katz says
What makes this ID so difficult is that Wyss may have taken some liberties with details that accurately match the actual car. If it was a 275GTB/4, even a comp version, it would have fog or turn lights in the lower outside corners of the grille. Plus, the raised center ridge on the hood is not that of most 275GTB. That ridge detail looks just like that of a 250LM. But the LM also has very small bumperettes (and possibly turn lights) on either side of the grille. But the silhouette of the rear window looks like that of a ’64 250 GTO or 250 LM. But the front of the GTO looks different. So I’m going to assume that Wyss left off the LM’s bumperettes or he has seen a comp LM without the bumperettes. So my guess is a 250 LM.
David Katz says
After looking through some photos of 275GTB/4 or 6C Comp cars, it appears that some had a ridge in the hood. But it was squared off, not like the one shown in this artwork. SO I stick with 250 LM minus bumperettes.
John Ford says
Ferrari 275 GTB/4. I think I see a bump in that… those four hoods
