Every two years, the lawns of Paleis Het Loo in the Netherlands host a Concours d’élégance.
Despite the awful weather on Sunday, with heavy rain throughout the day, the event saw a strong showing of classics from the native country but also from the neighbouring countries such as Belgium, Germany and even from Italy.

Best of Show was awarded to the Talbot Lago T150-C-SS “Teardrop” owned by Evert Louwman, who runs the Louwman Museum, in Den Haag, near Amsterdam, which is the world’s oldest private collection of motor cars.

Vanhoolandt at Monaco

May 23, 2012 By vanhoolandt

While Graham Gauld brought us insights and personal stories from the pits at this year’s Historics, Hugues Vanhoolandt delivered his usual outstanding imagery from around the circuit. Below, twenty top shots for our readers.

Gordinis

Two early Gordinis. Number 16 is the very first Gordini single-seater,

Lancia Marino

The Lancia Marino, built by Marino Brandoli who drove it at the 1957 GP of Naples, Italy, here driven by ex-F1 driver Beppe Gabbiani. See Graham’s article for more information.

Tec Mec

Tec Mec 250F was the ultimate evolution of the Maserati 250F. But it was immediately outpaced by the rear engined cars, its only outing being the 1959 US Grand Prix.

Maserati A6gcm

The Maserati A6 GCM (M for monoposto) was not accepted that year at the Monaco Grand Prix as it was reserved for Sports Cars. But they took part in the F1 World Drivers Championship, and did very well.

Techno Classica Essen 2012

April 4, 2012 By vanhoolandt

In the early fifties, the Ruggeri brothers from northern Italy, embarked on the construction of a Grand Prix car, due to Professor Speluzzi. The car had a transverse rear mounted engine, similar to the Bugatti 251. Because of the lack of funds, the project remained unfinished.

Ferrari, a Special Exhibition in the Pantheon, Basel, Switzerland

The Pantheon in Basel is located in a spectacular building where privately owned vintage cars are exhibited along a circular ramp. It is a garage, a workshop, a sales and rental facility, a place to hold special events, and a lot more. According to the Pantheon site, “Stephan Musfeld has been a vintage car enthusiast since the days of his youth. So, when he happened to hear about the vacant premises formerly occupied by the Züblin repair and machinery workshop in Muttenz, the project became virtually inevitable. And thus it came about that Basle once again became Switzerland’s center for yet another theme of special interest.”

The unique Pantheon building in Basel.
