Simon Grand is a senior designer at Centro Stile Fiat and the coordinator of the Transportation Design department at the Istituto D'Arte Applicata e
Design (IAAD), Turin.
After graduating from Coventry University in 1998 (BA Hons in
Transportation Design), he spent three years as a designer for Volkswagen
both in Wolfsburg and at their Advanced Design Centre near Barcelona.
Following his passion for Italian cars, (he is the owner of the yellow car
in the following photographs, the blue car belongs to his fiance's family),
he moved to Turin in 2001 to start collaborating with Fiat. He enjoys
spending time around historic vehicles and has since acquired a 1962 Vespa
and a 1970 Lambretta amongst other collectable automobilia, including an
original Bertone Stratos safety helmet from the 1970's.
Other past times
include photography, painting and illustrating historic vehicles, freelance
journalism and he was recently part of the jury for the second edition of
the re-launched 'Concorso D'Eleganza per Automobili di Torino'
