Ferrari 360 Michelotto debuts at Daytona
By Pete Vack
The new 360GT, as translated by Italian tuning wizard Michelotto, will make it’s U.S. race debut at the 24 Hour Daytona Rolex on February 2-3rd.
The new race car will be entered by Ferrari of Washington, a former Dealer Champion in the North American Ferrari Challenge series. Allie Ash, President of
Ferrari of Washington, said " We've always enjoyed racing, but we're Ferrari enthusiasts first. The availability of a fully race prepared 360GT give
us a unique opportunity to combine our two passions, and we are very excited about our first race."
Michelotto, located in Padua, Italy, has extensive experience in preparing racing Ferraris, including the 333 SP.
Glen Marquis, Team Manager and Crew Chief for Ferrari of Washington, has already left to test the new
car at Daytona. Driver line-up will be announced after testing.
As can be seen from the photos, the bodywork is only slightly modified. Michelotto has done his magic
sight unseen, working with both the engine and paddle wheel gearbox, as well as upgrading the brakes and
suspension. The 360GT will be competing with the Porsche GT3Rs. Although down on power and torque compared to
the competition, test driver Anthony Lazzaro was impressed by the handling and knows that there is still plenty of
development work to be done. We wish them well. Be sure to catch the event on Speedvision.
