In upcoming editions of VeloceToday, we will feature a unique look at the Monterey Weekend. Michael Lynch will provide our readers with an insider's veiw of the event, describing those very private and exclusive happenings which accompany the long weekend.
In the meantime, here are a few snippets from this year's event.

The 'baby' Ferrari, unfortunately very short lived, but a beautiful attempt at a 1 liter sports/GT. ASA took over the construction of the Ferrari-designed car, but success was not forthcoming.
In 1959, Zagato continued a long tradition of building lightweight bodies for Alfa with the 1300 SZ. A longtail version followed, but both were replaced by the in 1963-64 1600 Tubolare Zagato.
Historic F1s did not run at Laguna this year, but the ex-Jacky Ickx 312 appeared at CI. In the background is a long-tailed Alfa, a Type 33.
One of the finest sporting sedans ever built, the Satta-designed Alfa Giulia 1600 Super is still a practical classic.
The number of 1950-60 Fiats displayed at Concorso increases every year. Here is a well balanced and very attractive Viotti coupe on the 600 chassis.

Lancias of all types can be seen at CI, from this Lambda (one of two) to a stunning Flaminia Zagato. Lancia owners are probably the most eccentric of all Italian car enthusiasts.
Scott Emsely has owned this Abarth 205 Vignale since 1984, guiding it through a very difficult restoration process. S/N 205101 is still as attractive as it appeared in 1950.

The Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca
A short distance from Quail Lodge, the Laguna Seca racetrack hosts the Monterey Historics. Agendas usually consist of Friday at Concorso, Saturday at Laguna, and Sunday at Pebble Beach. Here are a few of the Italian cars which appeared at Laguna.

Even before getting to the paddock, one literally trips over interesting cars. As our editor's copy of Massini's Ferrari by Vignale is still packed away, we'll let our readers id this.
Another one for the readers. This is the John McCaw Lancia D-24, S/N 0005 if we read the id tag right.
Like P3 Alfas, the number of D24s seem to be proliferating. This is S/N 0003. We'll let our Lancia friends tell us more about both 0005 and 0003.
Right Photo
Monterey is really all about people, meeting old friends and new alike. Here Marcel Massini ran into Keith Bluemel (left) and both ran into the editor. Hence photo.

We didn't attend Pebble Beach, but here is the typical entry to that august event. John Mozart's 2.9 Alfa, S/N 422014. Still our choice for the best car in the world.
We leave you with a car previously featured in VeloceToday-The Alfa Disco Volante, ex Juan Peron, ex Henry Wessells, and now owned by Larry Auriana. Driven by Phil Hill at Laguna.
