TUTTE LE FERRARI A MISANO Part II 18-20 October 2002

Misano’s big Ferrari event was planned for Sunday 12 o’clock. With much fanfare, Luca di Montezemolo, Schumacher and Barrichello arrived by helicopter, landing on the track in front of the public. Together now with the Formula 1 team, they walked back to the pits.

After few demonstration laps of the current production cars, Schumacher and Barrichello engaged themselves in a race, driving the new Maserati Trofeo cars. The Trofeo challenge will start next year with a new "all inclusive" formula, and include seven races in Europe, at a reasonable price of around $120,000 dollars.

Once the Shumacher/Barrichello sprint race was over, all the drivers of the 360 Challenge, Montezemolo, Piero Ferrari and the formula one pilots clambered into the back of a truck for a lap of the circuit, in a display of thanks. The crowds cheered as if at Monza.

Next on the agenda was something never seen before. Four Formula 1 Ferrari cars running together driven by Schumacher, Barrichello, Badoer and Burti. Needless to say, the crowd continued to cheer. During the first lap, a red and yellow Enzo were driven by Piero Ferrari and Ferrrari’s chief test driver, Dario Benuzzi.

Schumacher, Barrichello, Badoer and Burti did not hesitate to put on a good show. They drove very quickly for a number of laps, and a pit stop was included in the demonstration as a tribute to the pit crews and mechanics, who have done so much to help win the championships. The drivers took the checkered flag in parade order: this time without any polemics!

Sunday afternoon provided a fantastic opportunity for all of Ferrari’s supporters to celebrate the entire team, including the test drivers, who have exerted a huge effort during the season and are probably responsible for the reliability shown by Ferrari during the whole year.

Luca di Montezemolo thanked all the fans with an optimistic message for the future: "We will do our best for the next season. We are training ourselves to win; you, our fans and friends, have to train yourselves to support us……..2002 has been a very exceptional year for Ferrari, but all of us will do our best to repeat it ! Thanks !"
