Hampton Court Concours

Hampton Court Concours d’Elegance 2024

September 16, 2024 By pete

The Jaques Family’s 1927 Bentley 3 Litre Boat Tail Speed Model. This is chassis TN1564 and features coachwork from Martin Walter.

Stately Home number two on my three part ‘Grand Homes’ tour is Hampton Court Palace, a location I feel to rival that of Ville d‘Este and Pebble Beach. (See Stately Home number 1)
This event is a bit unusual in that the best in show winner at the concours is chosen by the owners themselves. Each owner is granted one vote to choose the car (other than their own of course) which they believe to be the finest motor car entered into the Concours. I also understand that each owner is also asked to select a vehicle from each decade that they consider to be the finest motor car entered in the event from that decade.

More Classics from Hampton Court 2020

Story and photos by Jonathan Sharp

There was one bright spot in last year’s Concours season, as it was decided to hold the annual Hampton Court Show shortly before Covid restrictions became more drastic. And what a show it was. Jonathan Sharp covered the Italian entries last September, but we didn’t publish his photos of the many other great cars that made it to the event. Sharp hereby corrects that situation, with more great photos and detailed descriptions (information primarily from the event program) to explain the history behind each car. And a good thing, too, as we are not as familiar with Bentleys as Bugattis.

Bet you thought we were done with Hampton Court 2019, but we only gave you Alfa to Ferrari. Here are the rest in all of their splendor. We hope the swans will be return to the next Hampton Court Concours, still scheduled to take place on September 4-6, 2020, and they have lined up a number of very special Alfas for the event.

An Event Not Covered

We must explain the reason for all of the recent yet old Hampton Court coverage. Hampton Court Concours took place September 6-8, 2019 and must have been one whopper of an event. Jonathan Sharp was on hand to cover it, the weather was perfect, the cars stunning and the background at Hampton Court easily tops Pebble Beach. Yet at the time, we only ran a select few photos of the special featured Ferraris.

Hampton Court Palace Concours, September 1-3

September 19, 2017 By pete

For this particular Concours coverage, we asked photographer Jonathan Sharp if he could send two or three photos of our favorites, so we might present a different view of each car. He concurred so here they are, even the D-Jags! Please note that some got more than two chances to be beautiful. And, if you want to see the images in large hi res format, simply click on the photo.- Editor [Read more…] about Hampton Court Palace Concours, September 1-3
