Lancia Flaminia

California’s Hillsborough Concours

July 29, 2024 By pete

Star of the show.

Story and photos by Chris Nugent

June 23, 2024. It was beautiful at the Crystal Springs Golf Course. The sun was out, but the fog was hugging the coast so the temperature was ideal. It was the perfect California summer day. It had been many years since I’d been to the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance.

London Classic Car Show, February 24-26 2023

March 6, 2023 By pete

Purposeful from any angle, Alpine A110.

Story and photos by Jonathan Sharp

The last weekend in February offered a lot of choice for those of us in need of an old car fix. Should I go to St Moritz for the ‘ICE’? (Created to enjoy driving, showing and watching exciting motor cars on the frozen lake!) But have you seen the hotel prices? Maybe Stuttgart for RetroClassics? No more direct flights from my local airport! Madrid for Autoclassica? I do not speak Spanish. Race retro in Stoneleigh in Warwickshire? Been there before. Then how about the London Classic Car Show? Ideal, just a train ride away. So it was off to Olympia in Kensington that I headed.

Lancia Owners Requesting Loramo Book

February 28, 2022 By pete

This afternoon, I’m likely the only person you know, delivering charity bake sale boxes out of the back of my car in 11F degree Wisconsin winter to benefit the local farm animal rescue sanctuary! Who is he and what is the car?

Almost hidden in the text of our article about Brandes Elitch and Cars Yea was an unusual offer: Send Brandes a photo of a Lancia you owned or still own and he’ll send you a copy of his book “Lancia Loraymo.”

It’s a good thing we didn’t do more to bring attention to the offer, as Brandes immediately began to receive emails and photos, and though he has a few copies left, they are going fast.

Brandes Elitch, Cars Yeah, and Lancia Loraymo

February 21, 2022 By pete

Story by Pete Vack

Last week Brandes Elitch, our longtime contributor/columnist, had his say on Mark Greene’s Cars Yeah. And what a good performance it was! Despite knowing him digitally for fifteen years, (meaning we have never met in person) hearing him on Mark’s excellent series added much depth and humanity to the subject of one Brandes Elitch.
