The brothers Zagato didn’t have a great deal of luck with Lancias.

The Appia Zagato was always too long and too little. Although somewhat successful in the Italian 1100cc events, the street version was underpowered and overwheelbased, and the 1100cc engine strained at anything like racing speeds. From the front it was attractive, but the side view and rear view failed to delight. From the same era, the Abarth, Alfa and the Bandini Zagatos (only one built), were far more pleasing to the eye.

Italian Car Day: Alfa, Lancia, Maserati

May 8, 2023 By pete

Alfa Romeo Giulia enjoys the shade offered Vickers Vanguard G-APEP (EP). EP first flew from Brooklands on the 29th November 1961, joining BEA (British European Airways) on the 13th December of that year. After 9 years of passenger service EP was converted into a Merchantman before re-entering service carrying freight in the early 1970s, retiring on the 30th September 1996.

Story and photos by Jonathan Sharp

This year’s Auto Italia Italian car day, held on April the 29th at Brooklands in Surrey was, as you can see from the number of people in the background of many of the shots, particularly popular with the general public. When I arrived just after the museum had opened the place was already filling up nicely.

Lancia Flavia 1800 Berlina

April 17, 2018 By pete

From the VeloceToday Archives, March 22nd, 2006

By Corrado Caruso

Passion is created from youthful experiences: From Milan, this is Mr. Caruso’s story of a search and restoration which, if not financially astute, nevertheless was gratifying in a heartfelt manner, which cannot be quantified.

For many years, I have searched for a particular Lancia Flavia, as similar as possible to the car that was owned by my family, in which I learned to drive with the help of my late father. His was an 1800 Berlina, dark green in color, and I remember it well and fondly. But after years of searching I decided to buy the top of the line, and the decision was made to purchase a 2000 LX.

March 9, 2011 By Gerelli

VeloceToday Best of Show: IED Abarth: a very nice exercise of the Istituto Europeo of Design, based in Turin.

A few bright spots at Geneva, but overall the cars are depressingly unnattractive, fat, frumpy. And what can we say of the Fiat Lancia Flavia Chrysler? We’ll let our readers voice their opinions; be sure to scroll down to see what Fiat/Chrysler has in store for us. [Ed.]
