Citroën Museum in Castellane

The gates of heaven are open!

Story and photos Copyright by Daniel De Gallo

The proper name of the museum is “Citromuseum” in Castellane, France

This large inventory of post-war Citroën cars is one of a kind, not just impeccably restored: all impeccably ORIGINAL, with low mileage!

Curated and warehoused by Monsieur Henri Fradet, a distinguished fellow collector who has spent his entire life living his passion, and caring for the beloved iconic Citroën cars, by way of collecting and preserving dozens of specimens. Mr. Fradet in person welcomes you in his museum and shares a wealth of historic and technical details about the marque.

An unexpected location worth the trip, the beautiful town of Castellane located by world-famous Verdon River gorges.

Don’t call it a Tube! This H “dans son jus” (translates: barn fresh) welcomes us.

The beloved T.A. fits the theme, as it was produced and sold in large numbers during the post-war era.

Exploded view of the 2cv.

The beloved 2cv is well-represented.

Here a couple of séries limitées: France 3 on left, Dolly on right.

ID or DS? In any case, “La déesse est une belle idée!”

The beloved DS is well-represented.

Henri Chapron went out with a bang with the DS cabriolet design.

Flaminio Bertoni could not help himself with the Ami 6 design.

A handful of M35 prototypes (those were equipped with the Wankel single rotor engine).

A “petites” skewer: Méhari, Dyane, Acadiane.

Make way for the SM!

GSs and CXs well-represented. The 2nd GS happens to be a rare Birotor model.

GS break (5-door family station wagon).

The 1980s, for better or worse: here a couple of Visas.
