While the Ferrari 458 Challenge had its world debut at the Bologna Motor on December 2nd, 2010, a few meters away Maserati presented is new car, the GranTurismo MC Stradale. The Stradale was first presented at the Paris Auto Show two months earlier.

Inspired by the the Trofeo GranTurismo MC and the race-winning GT4 motorsport models, the Stradale is a car with unparalleled handling, and is it’s the first Maserati GT with a top speed over 300 km/h (186 mph) barrier. During its development the MC Stradale had registered a top speed of 301km/h (187mph), and does 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

The MC Stradale uses the same 4.7 litre (4,691 cc) V8 engine mounted on the GranTurismo S, but the engine produces 450 CV (330.974 Kw), ten more than the GranTurismo S, and has a maximum torque of 510 Nm (376.156 lbs/ft) or twenty more than GTS.
The new MC Stradale weighs only 1670 kg (3681.72 lb) and the car received some upgrades to the aerodynamics, chassis and now uses carbon ceramic brake discs.

Inside, it’s clear that the Stradale is mixes racing-style thrills with refinement. Alcantara and leather carbon fibre seats and as an option the owner could have a half-steel roll cage and four-point seatbelts. Another option for the new owner is a racing suit, gloves and a helmet in the red and grey MC color scheme. Ready to wear and race, indeed.

As seen on the sister company Ferrari’s models, the GranTurismo MC Stradale has, for the first time, a ‘Race’ button, which drops the six-speed automated manual box’s shift times to 60 milliseconds. After the MC12 supercar, the MC Stradale is also the first Maserati to have a dedicated Race mode, in addition to Auto and Sport mode with the switch button in a simplified layout of the dashboard.

As we’ve said before, the Maserati V8 engine is shared with the Alfa 8C Competizione and GranTurismo S. But thanks to the fact that the MC Stradale weighs 100 kg less than its sister car the engine feels much more responsive than the old GTS

The special edition GranTurismo MC Stradale will go on sale in March 2011 at a price of 154,721 Euro. Unfortunately for right now the MC Stradale will be not available on USA, Canada and Korea.
