Your poem was right on target! The black and white photos fit well with the historic theme and for me resonated on memories of the Hershey Hillclimb, Watkins Glen, and old Alfas (which I still drive on sunny days).

That hits all the right cords except the racing bug for me was more affordable motorcycles. It surely was a blast.

Robert Birmingham mentions Wilmot Hills. I did a SCCA driver’s school there way back when. Does anyone else remember the corner with a big “PRAY” painted on the pavement?
Thanks Pete !
Yes, it was a unique sweet spot. Glad I caught the second half of that golden age. My family brought me from Germany to Dearborn. At 13 I got to ride in Mustang I then saw the first five 260 Cobras arrive. Ten years later at university I rescued a MGTC. A friend in NZ has it now. I visited last year. It’s a joy to drive there because it is suitably enhanced and NZ is twice as good as CA! Here, I enjoy my 750 Spider Veloce as I try to finish enhancing my 750 Sprint. An Etype coupe is our GT for temperate weather. There were others. One sale paid for everything and more. Yes, that sweet spot was charming and golden! Thanks again for digging up those memories, can’t be repeated.
